Tesla Owners Club South Africa ("we", "us", "the Club") operates the website teslaownersclub.co.za. We are a voluntary community organisation based in South Africa. We are not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
When you register on our website, we collect: your name, email address, province, Tesla model interest, reservation status, and optional fields (reservation date, order number, screenshot). We also collect your IP address for security purposes and how you heard about us for marketing analytics.
We collect your information to: (a) register your membership with Tesla Owners Club SA; (b) send you Tesla SA launch alerts and club news (if you opted in); (c) track the number of South Africans interested in or who have reserved a Tesla; (d) connect you with your provincial chapter; (e) improve our services and understand our community demographics.
We process your personal information in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Our lawful basis is your explicit consent, given at the point of registration. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Your data is stored in a secured MySQL database on our South African hosting provider (Afrihost). Access is restricted to authorised club administrators. We do not store payment information. Uploaded screenshots are stored in a non-publicly-accessible directory.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Aggregate, anonymised statistics (e.g., "312 members across 9 provinces") may be shared publicly. We will never share your individual data with Tesla, Inc. or any other company without your explicit consent.
Under POPIA, you have the right to: (a) access your personal information; (b) correct inaccurate information; (c) request deletion of your information; (d) withdraw consent for processing; (e) lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@teslaownersclub.co.za.
This website does not currently use tracking cookies. If we add Google Analytics or similar tools in future, this policy will be updated and you will be notified.
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated to registered members via email.
